Clumsy Bird
One little flap at a time: guide a bird through the gaps and find your rhythm.
- Game style
- One-button arcade
- Controls
- Space / tap
- The pace
- Quick reactions

Clumsy Bird takes the familiar gap-between-the-pipes idea and builds a complete little browser game around one action. Pressing makes the bird rise; doing nothing lets it fall. The rule is simple enough to understand immediately, while judging the next flap is where the challenge lives. Its bright pixel scenery keeps the mood light even when a run is brief.
Think in small corrections. Repeatedly pressing in a panic can send the bird too high, leaving little room to adjust before the next obstacle. Watching the next opening rather than staring at the bird gives you more time to prepare. A steady rhythm matters more than pressing quickly.
This is a Flappy Bird-inspired project, not the original game. It suits someone who wants a direct dexterity challenge without menus of upgrades or a long story. It also asks for tolerance of repetition: progress means becoming more consistent at the same small movement, rather than unlocking a completely different way to play.
Controls
- Press Space, click or tap to make the bird flap.
- Release between flaps and let the bird descend when you need to lose height.
- Press M to toggle sound. Follow the on-screen start and restart prompts between attempts.
Rules
- Pass through the gaps between pipes without hitting them.
- Avoid the ground; a collision ends the attempt.
- Passing obstacles adds to the score. Start another attempt to improve your own result.
Who it suits
Players who enjoy a short reflex challenge and learning through repeated attempts. One action keeps the controls approachable without making the timing easy.
Before you open it
Repeated failures are part of this style of game. If that feels irritating rather than satisfying, Sandspiel offers a more relaxed alternative.
Browser & device notes
The official project maps Space and pointer input to the same flap action. It is an older browser game; mouse, keyboard and touch are supported in its code, but current physical-phone behaviour has not been tested.
